Šarićev prijevod Biblije

Prvo pitanje: Može li tko se sjeti objaviti Šarićev prijevod Biblije, budući da još nije prošlo 70 godina od njegove smrti? Drugo pitanje: Gdje je link za upis novog priloga? Biblija prijevod Ivan Šarić koji je postavljen ovdje na ovim stranicama, i raširen svuda po Internetu već godinama, ovim se daje svima do znanja da to nije Šarićev prijevod iz god. 1942, nego je to Šaricev revidirani prijevod Đure Matinjaka iz god. 1998. Tko god hoće može to lahko uporedditi sa skeniranim Šarićevim originalnim prijevodom iz god. 1942. koji je postavljen na ovoj adresi: http://web.me.com/jurek/saric_scan/postanak.html. U redu je da se taj prijevod širi, ali treba biti istinito predstavljen javnosti. Već je krajnje vrijeme da se to ispravi. Taj prijevod je prvi Šarićev popravljeni prijevod a tiskan je u Zagrebu 1997 i 1998, a onaj koji je kasnije izdan u Zgrebu pod istim nazivom jest drugi popravljeni prijevod. Iako je to prešućeno to je živa Iistina!

O postavljanju zakona i drugih pravnih akata na Wikizvor

Pozdrav svima

Potpuno je nepotrebno postavljati sada vrijedeće zakone jer su isti dostupni na stranicma Narodnih novina. Tako je isto sa svim zakonima od 1990. nadalje. Zakoni socijalističke Jugoslavije i NR i SR Hrvatske do 1990. godine, zbog njihove ogromne brojnosti, nije mjesto na Wikizvoru. Ustave socijalističke Jugoslavije i NR, SR Hrvatske treba postaviti jer su to povijesno važni dokumenti, ali treba biti oprezan i glede zakonima NDH.

NDH nije imala pisani ustav, a zakona i upravnih akata Poglavnika i Vlade je bio ogroman broj. Treba napraviti selekciju najvažnijih zakona, a to nije samo zadatak pravnika već i povjesničara. Za pomoć s povijesne strane slobodno mi se možete obratiti preko ove stranice.

Također treba paziti na veličinu dokumenta. Kazneni zakon je primjer prevelikog dokumenta.Hibz 21:14, 2. svibanj 2007. (UTC)

Sistemsko vrijeme

Mislim da je sistemsko vrijeme podešeno dva sata unatrag. Bilo i lijepo kad bi se ispravilo na lokalno vrijeme. P.S. I bilo bi zgodno kad bi se link na početku ove stranice "Dodavanje novog komentara" ispravio. Hvala

Mislim da je sistemsko vrijeme podešeno dva sata unatrag. Bilo i lijepo kad bi se ispravilo na lokalno vrijeme.

Wikizvor je na GMT-u, a svaki suradnik može namjestiti svoje lokalno vrijeme u postavkama (kad se prijavi na wikizvor). U suprotnom, suradnici wikizvora u SAD-u, Australiji i Europi bi svi imali vrijeme kao da su u Hrvatskoj, što nije dobro rješenje, a ovako svatko može gledati vrijeme kao svoje lokalno. Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki

Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the English language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. Infact, of the 1798 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 1207 messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages of about 80 extensions, with almost 1000 messages.

Zakoni

Pozdrav,

po mom skromnom mišljenju, neki zakoni RH bi trebali biti u Wikizvoru, svakako oni bitniji. Ništa ne garantira da će zakoni na NN ostati dostupni, a što je gore, shema URL na NN se može promijeniti u svakom trenutku. Tada poveznice iz Wikipedije na zakone propadaju. Održavanje istih tada postaje noćna mora.

Svakako da ne treba sve staviti na Wikizvor. Jedan primjer zakona koji je bitan je Zakon o izbornim jedinicama (1999), budući da se po njemu provode trenutni izbori. Imamo kartu izbornih jedinica, ali ona je neprecizna -- Zakon je referentan! Dakle, uz sliku uvijek ide poveznica na Zakon, koji bi svakako trebao biti na WI.

Budući da će se zakon mijenjati, uz naziv Zakona stavio sam godinu donošenja. U nekim pravnim sustavima svaki zakon ima svoj broj, pa je tako lakše označavati; dok se kod nas to ne uvede, to je jedini način da noviji zakon ne prebriše stari (nadam se da je svima jasno zašto se ne smije prebrisati).

Glupost! Točno se zna kako se zakon označava, tj. kako se navode hrvatski zakoni i sve drugo objavljeno u NN. Zakon se označava tako da se navede njegovo puno ime, a njegovo prezime je broj Narodnih novina. Ako zakon ima izmjene i dopune, tada se u zagradi navode svi brojevi Narodnih novina u kojima su objavljene izmjene i dopune. Ako Zakon ima pročišćeni tekst (kao ovaj što ga navodiš), tada se navodi u zagradi broj NN u kojem je objavljen pročišćeni tekst i stavlja se naznaka "pročišćeni tekst". Ako zakon ima ispravak tada se uz broj narodnih novina stavlja napomena "ispravak". To od uvijek postoji i ne treba smišljavat toplu vodu i govorit kako je to u drugim pravnim sustavima. --Suradnik13 15:53, 8. studeni 2007. (UTC)

U skladu s novododijeljenim imenskim prostorom, premjestih sadržaj gorespomenute kategorije na inačice sa predmetkom Autor:. Na ovaj način dobivamo jasnu razlučbu između samih djela i njihovih autora, što prije nije bio slučaj. Sad je primjerice razvidno da su Đuka Begović i Janko Borislavić djela a ne pisci.

Zamolio bih administratore da ne brišu preusmjeravanja jer podosta vanjskih projekata trenutno na njih povezuje.

Nadalje: recentno je stvoreno nekoliko autorskih članaka o autorima koji su još živi, ili koji su tek nedavno preminuli tako da im u svakom slučaju autorska prava neće isteći još dosta dugo, tako da nijedan njihov rad neće moći biti ovdje postavljen vjerojatno za vrijeme života bilo kog od nas (smrt+70 god). Krležu bi definitivno trebalo brisati, prije svega jer sudeći po komentarima na stranici digitalne-knjige.com gdje vlasnik objavljuje nekakove digitalizirane inačice djela kojima su istekla vlasnička prava, HAZU (navodni upravitelj ostavištine najvećeg hrv. pisca 20. stoljeća) nema nikakvu namjeru dopustiti njihovu besplatnu objavu na svemrežju (kao, to bi umanjilo prodaju Krležinih tiskanih djela u godini u kojoj je Nives Celzijus najprodavaniji pisac). Postavljanje novih ne-Bulaja tekstova

Zanima me koja je preporuka za postavljanje tekstova s ovog izvora - hoćemo li se držati starog sistema ili, budući da smo u prilici pokazati i izvornik sa slikom, raditi sve na ovaj novi način? Konkretno: ako se odlučim za postavljanje ove knjige, što mi predlažete, da je obradim na standardni način kao i ostale tekstove Gjalskoga ili na novi način sa slikama i višestrukom provjerom? Nije mi niti jedna varijanta problem (to jest, snaći ću se i savladati novo :), samo me zanima što je bolje za Wikiizvor. --Modra 12:13, 14. veljača 2009. (CET)

Sve je dopuštno, samo da se dodaje sadržaj :) Međutim, problem je sa tim tekstovima na archive.org što nisu ponajbolje OCR-ani za hrvatski (kad klikneš na sirovi tekst na "Full Text" poveznici), pa ako imaš neki drugi digitalizirani i provjereni oblik tog istog teksta onda je najbolje preskočiti cijelu muku sa ispravljanjem stranicu po stranicu i samo uraditi copy/paste.

U konačnici, za krajnjeg korisnika, stvar je ista - i u jednom i u drugom slučaju imat će isti tekst. Postupkom provjere stranicu-po-stranicu i transkluzijom preko {{stranica}} predloška u glavni imenski prostor otvara se međutim prilika za povećanjem kvalitete projekta, jer je na klik miša dostupan tiskani izvornik za koji se svatko može uvjeriti da odgovara predstavljenome obliku teksta.

Usput, koliko vidim dotična knjiga i nije baš najbolje skenirana, tako da bi trebalo imati sa strane tiskanu kopiju da se nedostajući dijelovi popune.. --Ivan Štambuk 14:39, 14. veljača 2009. (CET)

Hm, imaš pravo što se tiče lošeg skeniranja. :/ Isprva sam mislila da prigovaraš onim iskrivljenjima u dnu, što i ne bi bio problem, ali postoje baš potpuno nečitke stranice i to nije slučaj samo na toj knjizi. Izgleda super. Genijalac koji je skenirao je izostavio stranice 222 i 223 tako da ćemo se morati nekako skrpit bez njih ;) Sljedeća faza bi bilo dodavanje sirovog, skeniranog teksta odavde na pojedine stranice (povezujući dakako rastavljene riječi na kraju retka, i razdjeljujući tekst u paragrafe), pa onda pregledavanje, provjera i transkluzija konačnog teksta u glavni imenski prostor. --Ivan Štambuk 01:38, 19. veljača 2009. Evo ja dodah sadržaj (pravi sadržaj, ne kazalo/indeks) i nešto stranica za provjeru: Ruski pripovjedači. U biti bi trebalo za svaki DjVu uploadan na zajednički poslužitelj postaviti sadržaj i za svaku stranicu dodati skenirani tekst. Tipfeleri

Kakva je politika s tipfelerima? Slijepo slijedimo izvor ili popravljamo slagarske propuste? :) Npr. situacija ovdje, peti red odozdo, piše N emce, a očito je trebalo pisati Niemce. Kako ćemo mi pisati? --Modra 23:50, 19. veljača 2009. (CET)

Po mom mišljenju, takve očite omaške bi bilo najbolje ispraviti, jer se radi o pogrješci u tiskarskom slogu, a ne o izvornom rukopisnom tipfeleru pisca. Ja sam ih već nekoliko ispravio u knjigi o Slavenima. Takve ispravke su nekontroverzne za razliku od pravopisnih intervencija (npr. Očite tiskarske pogrješke je logično ispraviti (njihovo čuvanje, tj. doslovno prenošenje teksta iz knjiga do posljednjeg slova/pogrješke ne pomaže nikome, ni autoru ni čitateljima). Druge intervencije ne bi trebalo provoditi, ili ako se već provode treba navesti paralelno izvorni i osuvremenjeni hrvatski tekst, no kako je ovo Wikizvor, prioritet je postavljanje "novih" izvornih djela, ne njihovo uređivanje. Cache na poslužitelju

Osim što nas sve ponekad zna zezati cache web preglednika (Firefoxa, Opere, Safarija, Chrome-a ili IE-a), nekad je za krivi prikaz stare inačice stranice na wikiprojektima kriv cache na poslužitelju. Tu pomaže dodavanje URL argumenta i parametra action=purge, no da ne bismo morali to ručno pisati svaki put, u postavkama pod dodacima (dakle Posebno:Postavke) na zadnjem izborniku piše Dodaci, nova je kućica (checkbox) Kartica (tab) za čišćenje cache-memorije na poslužitelju. Njeno označavanje (i spremanje postavki) uzrokovat će pojavljivanje nove kartice (taba) na stranicama Wikizvora s tekstom očisti cache, koja radi upravo to. SpeedyGonsales 07:46, 20. veljača 2009. Autorska prava - Truhelka i Patsch

Planiram objaviti izvještaj o arheološkim nalazima iz Lašvanske doline. Djelo je izdano u 19. stoljeću, autori su Karl Patsch i Ćiro Truhelka. Smijem li to učiniti? Prijedlog za redizajn glavne stranice

Na suradničkoj podstranici izradio sam prijedlog za novi izgled glavne stranice Wikizvora na hrvatskom jeziku. Prijedlog će se još neznato mijenjati u pogledu sadržaja, ali osnovna ideja je takva kakva je. Pozivam sve da iznesu svoje komentare na dotičnoj stranici za razgovor. I am planning to operate a twitter bot and wanted to include your Wikisource. I would twitter new text from your "new texts" section on the main page. What i noticed is that you don't have the authors of the books listed there. I'd like you to consider stating the author of the book there as well or otherwise the Croatian announcements will go without an author.

And I need a translation for this phrase to operate the bot: "$book by $author is now available on the Croatian Wikisource." where $book and $author will be replaced by the bot.

Poezija

Predlažem da se u svaku pjesmu doda predložak:poezija. Dio (brzog) posla bih obavio sam, a kasnije možda bot. Predložak posotji na ruskom wikizvoru, samo sam ga malo izmijenio i pojednostavio. Gotov je ako mi ništa novo ne padne na pamet, a primjere možete vidjeti na mojoj podstranici.

Prednosti tog predloška:

1. Jednostavan za upotrebu; svega tri parametra od kojih samo jedna obvezan. Danas na wikizvoru postoji mnogo načina postavljanja pjesama, netko koristi <br>, netko <poem>, a netko :. Ovaj predložak sadrži <poem>, pa je sve ostalo nepotrebno.
2. Lijepo izgleda. Slaže se sa zaglavljem, ljubičasta nijansa je ista. Daje poeziji otmjen štih.
3. Smješta pjesmu na sredinu (mislim da je o tome bilo govora), bez narušavanja njenog grafičkog izgleda. Kod kratkih pjesama bilo je puno bjeline sa strane, sad to nije slučaj.

molim nekog admina da ispavi moja kriva premještanja, totalno sam se zbunio. Potrebno je premjestiti Bhagavad Gita (hr) 1 na Bhagavad Gita/Poglavlje 1., potonji naslov je svakako primjereniji. Predložak {{Kakvoća teksta}} sada funkcionira, kao što funkcioniraju gumbići ispod teksta. Međutim taj predložak je zastario, jer imamo "proofreading", odnosno ovo.

Ne znam jesu li ekumenski prijevod Biblije i druga Dretarova djela bila izdana, ali čini mi se da jesu bila objavljena samim postavljanjem na Wikizvor. Opet, postavljanjem na jedan wikiprojekt prihvaća se da će djelo kasnije biti "nemilosrdno uređivano", jel tako? Ali što ćemo onda s "Wikizvorovim prijevodima" nekih djela, poput himni? Znači li to da se i tu po želji može postaviti puno ime umjesto "Wikizvorovi suradnici"? I znači li to da se može maknuti Dretarovo ime s tih prijevoda nakon što još netko bude uređivao njegove prijevode, iz praktičnih razloga? Ovdje je problem što nije određeno što s doprinosima suradnika koji se potpisuju punim imenom jer imaju na to zakonsko pravo? Kosi li se to s Creative Commonsom? Wikizvor je slobodna zbirka tekstova u javnom vlasništvu. Projekt službeno funkcionira pod okriljem organizacije Wikimedia Foundation s ciljem stvaranja rastuće zbirke izvornih tekstova i njihovih prijevoda s drugih jezika. Wikizvor:Što je Wikizvor?

Wikizvor prihvaća:

1. Izvorne tekstove koji su prethodno objavljeni od strane autora
2. Prijevode izvornih tekstova
3. Povijesne dokumente nacionalne i međunarodne važnosti
4. Bibliografije autora čija su djela objavljena na Wikizvoru

(također Wikizvor:Što je Wikizvor?). Dretarova djela spadaju pod "Prijevode izvornih tekstova" (Biblije), ali također i pod "Izvorne tekstove koji su prethodno objavljeni od strane autora". Ako se radi o prijevodu nekog djela na hrvatski jezik, pri čemu je prevoditelj/su prevoditelji suradnici wikizvora, primjenjuje se rečenica koja piše na dnu stranice svakog Wikimedijinog projekta: Ukoliko ne želite da se vaš tekst nemilosrdno uređuje i slobodno raspačava, nemojte ga slati ovdje. No ako se radi o objavljenom prijevodu/izvorniku koji ne podliježe autorskom pravu jer je objavljen pred 50/70 ili više godina ili se autor/prevoditelj odrekao autorskih prava, onda se takav tekst nema što više dalje uređivati, kad jednom postane identičan onome objavljenom u izvorniku. Dakle:

• nije moguće zanijekati autorstvo prijevoda, kad je on već jednom objavljen
• objavljeni prijevod se uređuje u tolikoj mjeri da bude vjeran izvorniku, uz možebitno ispravljanje tiskarskih pogrešaka. SpeedyGonsales 16:58, 12. svibnja 2010. (CEST)

To bi onda značilo da imamo paradoks:

• djelo je postavljano na Wikizvor pa bi samim time trebalo biti slobodno za "nemilosrdno uređivanje";
• djelo je prvi put objavljeno na Wikizvoru pa se kao autorsko ne bi smjelo značajnije mijenjati.

Mislim da nam ovo baš nije potrebno - zato i postoji mogućnost da se stavi da je djelo "Wikizvorov prijevod" (samo prijevodi smiju biti djela Wikizvorovih suradnika). No dakako da sad ne bismo trebali ili mogli maknuti Dretarovo autorstvo pa predlažem da njegove prijevode ostavimo kakvi i jesu, a da ubuduće upozorimo ljude da ako žele neobjavljeno djelo postaviti na Wikizvor, neka napišu da je Wikizvorov prijevod. Što se tiče neobjavljenih djela na hrvatskom: ona ne bi ni trebala biti na Wikizvoru, jel tako? Inače bismo imali gornji paradoks... -—StjepanG 18.05.2010., 16:01 CEST

Nije mi bila namjera lažirati nekakvo slaganje zajednice i žao mi je ako je tako ispalo. Činjenica je da nijedan patroler ni suradnik nije reagirao na moje prebacivanje dvadesetak tekstova u Wikizvor (osim jednog novijeg suradnika koji je pristao na moje rješenje kad sam mu ga pobliže objasnio) te sam na to sam mislio. Obećajem da ću izbrisati s Wikizvora strane tekstove himni ako pobiješ moje argumente, cijenjena kolegice. Kad budem navodio strane Wikizvore i Wikipedije, to je tek zato da se uzmu u obzir, ne da mora biti tako.

1. Na Wikizvoru postoji pravilo da tu ne spadaju tekstovi na stranom jeziku. Ovdje se slažemo.
2. Ako postoji potreba, iznimka se može napraviti; ona ga potvrđuje. Ovdje se nadam da se slažemo.
3. Ja tvrdim da je kod slučaja himni ta iznimka potrebna. Ponavljam, pobiješ li mi argumente, odustajem od stava i brišem strane tekstove.

Kako bismo dobro utvrdili je li iznimka potrebna, nužno je znati stanje s himnama koje se tiče i Wikipedije i Wikizvora. Rubno je to područje jer nema jasnih pravila. Engleski uvijek, francuski i portugalski ponegdje podržavaju paralelno strani izvornik i prijevod. Njemački, talijanski i poljski gotovo da nemaju stranih.

Na mnogim Wikipedijama (engl., franc.) tekstovi i prijevod postoje dvostruko: na Wikipediji i na Wikizvoru. Polazio sam od mišljenja da Wikipediji nisu potrebni tekstovi himni, koji uza se povlače prijevode, prijepise, inačice i drugo. Smatrao sam da to nije za enciklopediju, iako se na stranici Što Wikipedija nije to izričito ne spominje. Dakako da je potreban citat, pa sam citirao (w:Himni i Flamurit, w:Mila Rodino). Mislim da bi na Wikipediji trebao biti članak, dakle brojni podaci o himni, poput povijesti, nastanka, političkog okvira, korištenju, razvoju itd. Za to ima materijala. Logično da u Wikizvor spadaju izvorni tekstovi. E sad dolazimo do problema:

• Ima li smisla da prijevod u Wikizvoru stoji sam, bez izvornika (i transkripcije i sličnog)?

Smatram da ima jedino u slučaju da je taj prijevod objavio neki umjetnik i da zadovoljava uvjete za Wikizvor. Ali prijevodi su najvećim dijelom suradnički, ne baš kvalitetni prijevodi. Pored Wikizvorovih prijevoda često se navodi izvornik (preveo Ivan Štambuk) iako ne postoji pravilo, kako bi netko i sa slabim znanjem usporedio i uvidio kvalitetu prijevoda. Osim toga, himne se uvijek izvode na izvornom jeziku, pa ako netko sluša vokalnu izvedbu, dobro mu dođe izvornik pred očima.

2010 Fundraising Is Almost Here

Hello Wikimedians, my name is Sam and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2010 Fundraiser. My job is to be the liaison between the Croatian community and the Foundation. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort; we recognize that banner messages which may perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences.

I am currently looking for translators who are willing to contribute to this project by helping translate and localize messages into Croatian and suggesting messages that would appeal to Croatian readers on the Fundraising Meta Page. We've started the setup on meta for both banner submission, statistical analysis, and grouping volunteers together.

Pozdrav svima suradnicima Wikizvora. Ja nisam još suradnik a neznam ni kako se upisati jer ne mogu naći gdje. Svuda po Internetu se može naći ovu Bibliju pod imenom Šarić ja znam odakle je taj prijevod i sa sigurnošću mogu reći da to nije originalni prijevod Ivana Šarića iz god. 1942. Nego je to revidirani Šarićev prijevod Đure Martinjaka god. 1998. To sve nije bitno neka se Božja Riječ širi ali je bitno da se u javnosti upozna istina. Na prijedlog Wikimedijinog Vijeća povjerenika potaknut odlukom Zaklada Wikimedija održat će glasovanje kako bi se utvrdilo podržavaju li članovi zajednice stvaranje i uporabu osobnog filtra za slike, koji će omogućiti čitateljima filtriranje (ne prikazivanje) određenih vrsta slika pod njihovim suradničkim računom.

The following are the areas that you will probably be most interested in:

• Faster loading of javascript files makes dependency tracking more important.
• New common*.css files usable by skins instead of having to copy piles of generic styles from MonoBook or Vector's css.
• The default user signature now contains a talk link in addition to the user link.
• Searching blocked usernames in block log is now clearer.
• Better timezone recognition in user preferences.
• Improved diff readability for colorblind people.
• The interwiki links table can now be accessed also when the interwiki cache is used (used in the API and the Interwiki extension).
• More gender support (for instance in logs and user lists).
• Language converter improved, e.g. it now works depending on the page content language.
• Time and number-formatting magic words also now depend on the page content language.
• Bidirectional support further improved after 1.18.

Report any problems on the labs beta wiki and we'll work to address them before they software is released to the production wikis.

Wsexport: an automatic export tool for Wikisource

An export tool for Wikisource books, Wsexport, is currently in active development. It is a tool for exporting Wikisource's texts in EPUB, ODT and other file formats. It was created for French Wikisource, but it's also available for the other Wikisource subdomains. It can be used directly from its page on Toolserver.org (for texts in all languages, use "www" for oldwikisource), or browsing http://wsexport.fr.nf (currently only for French Wikisource's texts).

In order to work, the tool need some configuration from your Wikisource subdomain, This page explains how to do it. Currently French, Italian, English, and German Wikisource does it.

Baš čitam kako je Wikizvor na ukrajinskom jeziku "izgubio" (brojidbeno) 57 % sadržaja (sadržaja uključenog u brojidbu), te je time od 4563 brojidbene jedinice pao na 1947 jedinicâ (stanje: 11. svi. 2012.).

Izgleda kako se na nekoj stranici, pretpostavljam na Language.php treba postaviti $wgArticleCountMethod = any i zatim pokrenuti updateArticleCount.php u Maintenance Shellu.

Update on IPv6

The Wikimedia Foundation is planning to do limited testing of IPv6 on June 2-3. If there are not too many problems, we may fully enable IPv6 on World IPv6 day (June 6), and keep it enabled.

What this means for your project:

• At least on June 2-3, 2012, you may see a small number of edits from IPv6 addresses, which are in the form "2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334". See e.g. w:en:IPv6 address. These addresses should behave like any other IP address: You can leave messages on their talk pages; you can track their contributions; you can block them. (See the full version of this announcement for notes on range blocks.)

• In the mid term, some user scripts and tools will need to be adapted for IPv6.

• We suspect that IPv6 usage is going to be very low initially, meaning that abuse should be manageable, and we will assist in the monitoring of the situation.

Help decide about more than $10 million of Wikimedia donations in the coming year

As many of you are aware, the Wikimedia Board of Trustees recently initiated important changes in the way that money is being distributed within the Wikimedia movement. As part of this, a new community-led "Funds Dissemination Committee" (FDC) is currently being set up. Already in 2012-13, its recommendations will guide the decisions about the distribution of over 10 million US dollars among the Foundation, chapters and other eligible entities.

Now, seven capable, knowledgeable and trustworthy community members are sought to volunteer on the initial Funds Dissemination Committee. It is expected to take up its work in September. In addition, a community member is sought to be the Ombudsperson for the FDC process. If you are interested in joining the committee, read the call for volunteers. Nominations are planned to close on August 15.

Wikidata is getting close to a first roll-out

As some of you might already have heard Wikimedia Deutschland is working on a new Wikimedia project. It is called m:Wikidata. The goal of Wikidata is to become a central data repository for the Wikipedias, its sister projects and the world. In the future it will hold data like the number of inhabitants of a country, the date of birth of a famous person or the length of a river. These can then be used in all Wikimedia projects and outside of them.

The project is divided into three phases and "we are getting close to roll-out the first phase". The phases are:

1. language links in the Wikipedias (making it possible to store the links between the language editions of an article just once in Wikidata instead of in each linked article)
2. infoboxes (making it possible to store the data that is currently in infoboxes in one central place and share the data)
3. lists (making it possible to create lists and similar things based on queries to Wikidata so they update automatically when new data is added or modified)

It'd be great if you could join us, test the demo version, provide feedback and take part in the development of Wikidata. You can find all the relevant information including an FAQ and sign-up links for our on-wiki newsletter on the Wikidata page on Meta.

Fundraising localization: volunteers from outside the USA needed

The Wikimedia Foundation's Fundraising team have begun our 'User Experience' project, with the goal of understanding the donation experience in different countries outside the USA and enhancing the localization of our donation pages. I am searching for volunteers to spend 30 minutes on a Skype chat with me, reviewing their own country's donation pages. It will be done on a 'usability' format (I will ask you to read the text and go through the donation flow) and will be asking your feedback in the meanwhile.

The only pre-requisite is for the volunteer to actually live in the country and to have access to at least one donation method that we offer for that country (mainly credit/debit card, but also real-time banking like IDEAL, E-wallets, etc...) so we can do a live test and see if the donation goes through. All volunteers will be reimbursed of the donations that eventually succeed (and they will be low amounts, like 1-2 dollars)

Što se to podrazumieva pod stranim jezikom? Da li svaki jezik koji se neuklapa u hrvatski novoštokavski standard ili svaka inačica jezika koja nije štokavska? Ako je tako tada pola hrvatskog Wikizvora bi se trebalo obrisati, jer ako Prešeren se traba prevoditi, tada se prevoditi moraju i Marulić, i Vitezović, i Zrinski, i Frankopan, i Domjanić, i Lucić, pa čak i dubrovački pisci. Nije li to absurdno? Da u Hrvatski jezik spadaju srbski i crnogorski pisci, i jezik kojim su oni pisali netreba se prevoditi, već se podrazumieva pod jezikom kojeg vi zovete hrvatskim. Koliko ja znam u današnjezvanom slovenskom jeziku nepostoji ni jedna rieč, koja se nemože naći u lexiku kajkavskog nariečja, a ukoliko netko nerazumije kajkavski jezik (uključujući današnju Slovenščinu) ili čakavski koji je isto tako sličniji "slovenskom" jeziku negoli današnje hrvatskom, tada taj, nerazumije hrvatski jezik i nema što tražiti na hrvatskoj inačici Wikizvora neka svoju književnu slast utaži u srbskoj inačici (srbski jezik nema takvo bogatsvo jezika i rieči). Wikimedia sites to move to primary data center in Ashburn, Virginia. Read-only mode expected.

Kakav strani jezik?

Kakav strani jezik? Štokavski jezik je jedan jezik, kako l' god ga kakve budale zbog političkih i nationalnih opredjeljenja zvali. Po takvomu bi trebalo obrisati sve članke na štokavskom jeziku, jer u biti štokavski jezik s jedne strane i jest strani; samo kajkavski i čakavski su izvono hrvatski jezici, a štokavski ako me dobro poviest služi, jest izvono srbski jezik.

Tako draga gospodo, kad je već standardni hrvatski jezik, ionako srbophon i hrvati ga smatraju svojim, čak do te idiotske mjere da hrvatske jezike, kajkavski i čakavski smatraju vulgarnim i nazadnim (govorom običnog puka i seljaštva) što je u biti smiešno jer linguistički gledano znatno su chromatičniji i rječno bogatiji od štokavskog sa puno širom i poviesno gledano bitnijom ulogom: što nam onda treba da brišemo članke koji su na srbskom, bosanskom, pa po novom i na crnogorskom jeziku, kada su to jedan te isti jezik, koji se razlikuju gotovo u ničemu.

Dear Wikisourcerors, it has been almost a month since we have started with the Elaborate Wikisource strategic vision grant and we would like to share some news with you:

• The Wikisource vision development pages are open to discussion. Specially important: what do you think of creating together an international Wikisource User Group?
• In case some Wikisources want to use Wikidata to store book metadata and share it with Commons, we have started Wikidata:Books task force to decide which properties are needed. We think it's very important to discuss book metadata there, both for Wikisource and for all other projects.
• We also started some relevant Requests for Comments for Wikisource:
  • Interproject links interface: how can we improve sister projects visibility?
  • Musical score transcription project proposal: now that Extension:Score allows musical scores both in Wikipedia and in Wikisource (example 1, example 2), we need to define where we want music sheets to be hosted.
• We are following and promoting a Google Summer of Code project for Wikisource: Improve support for book structures. We are also helping to convert the UploadWizard customisation for books proposal into another GSoC.
• First contacts have been initiated with Open Library, Internet Archive and Open Knowledge Foundation for possible partnerships. Please check out this page.

And that's it for now! During the month of May, we (Aubrey and Micru) would like to organize at least one Skype or Google Hangout meeting for the users of each one of the 10 biggest wikisources plus another one or two for the other languages (depending on interest). We want to know your opinion on what Wikisource should become in the next years.

The default position of the "edit" link in page section headers is going to change soon. The "edit" link will be positioned adjacent to the page header text rather than floating opposite it.

Section edit links will be to the immediate right of section titles, instead of on the far right. If you're an editor of one of the wikis which already implemented this change, nothing will substantially change for you; however, scripts and gadgets depending on the previous implementation of section edit links will have to be adjusted to continue working; however, nothing else should break even if they are not updated in time.

Ideas to do this all the way to 2009 at least. It is often difficult to track which of several potential section edit links on the far right is associated with the correct section, and many readers and anonymous or new editors may even be failing to notice section edit links at all, since they read section titles, which are far away from the links.

• MediaWiki recognizes links in twelve new schemes. Users can now link to SSH, XMPP and Bitcoin directly from wikicode. [5]
• VisualEditor was added to all content namespaces on mediawiki.org on May 20. [6]
• A new extension ("TemplateData") was added to all Wikipedia sites on May 20. It will allow a future version of VisualEditor to edit templates. [7]
• New sites: Greek Wikivoyage and Venetian Wiktionary joined the Wikimedia family last week; the total number of project wikis is now 794. [8] [9]
• The logo of 18 Wikipedias was changed to version 2.0 in a third group of updates. [10]
• The UploadWizard on Commons now shows links to the old upload form in 55 languages (bug 33513). [11]

Future software changes

• The next version of MediaWiki (version 1.22/wmf5) will be added to Wikimedia sites starting on May 27. [12]
• An updated version of Notifications, with new features and fewer bugs, will be added to the English Wikipedia on May 23. [13]
• The final version of the "single user login" (which allows people to use the same username on different Wikimedia wikis) is moved to August 2013. The software will automatically rename some usernames. [14]
• A new discussion system for MediaWiki, called "Flow", is under development. Wikimedia designers need your help to inform other users, test the prototype and discuss the interface. [15].

Pywikipedia is migrating to git

Pywikipedia is migrating to Git so after July 26, SVN checkouts won't be updated If you're using Pywikipedia you have to switch to git, otherwise you will use out-dated framework and your bot might not work properly. Notifications inform you of new activity that affects you -- and let you take quick action.

Greetings!

Notifications will inform users about new activity that affects them on this wiki in a unified way: for example, this new tool will let you know when you have new talk page messages, edit reverts, mentions or links -- and is designed to augment (rather than replace) the watchlist. The Wikimedia Foundation's editor engagement team developed this tool (code-named 'Echo') earlier this year, to help users contribute more productively to MediaWiki projects.

We're now getting ready to bring Notifications to almost all other Wikimedia sites, and are aiming for a 22 October deployment, as outlined in this release plan. It is important that notifications is translated for all of the languages we serve.

There are three major points of translation needed to be either done or checked:

• Echo on translatewiki for user interface - you must have an account on translatewiki to translate
• Thanks on translatewiki for user interface - you must have an account on translatewiki to translate
• Notifications help on mediawiki.org. This page can be hosted after translation on mediawiki.org or we can localize it to this Wikipedia. You do not have to have an account to translate on mediawiki, but single-user login will create it for you there if you follow the link.

Speak up about the trademark registration of the Community logo.

Hi all,

Please join the consultation about the Community logo that represents Meta-Wiki: m:Community Logo/Request for consultation.

This community consultation was commenced on September 24. The following day, two individuals filed a legal opposition against the registration of the Community logo.

The question is whether the Wikimedia Foundation should seek a collective membership mark with respect to this logo or abandon its registration and protection of the trademark.

We want to make sure that everyone get a chance to speak up so that we can get clear direction from the community. We would therefore really appreciate the community's help in translating this announcement from English so that everyone is able to understand it.

Introducting Beta Features

We would like to let you know about Beta Features, a new program from the Wikimedia Foundation that lets you try out new features before they are released for everyone.

Think of it as a digital laboratory where community members can preview upcoming software and give feedback to help improve them. This special preference page lets designers and engineers experiment with new features on a broad scale, but in a way that's not disruptive.

Beta Features is now ready for testing on MediaWiki.org. It will also be released on Wikimedia Commons and MetaWiki this Thursday, 7 November. Based on test results, the plan is to release it on all wikis worldwide on 21 November, 2013.

Here are the first features you can test this week:

• Media Viewer — view images in large size or full screen
• VisualEditor Formulæ (for wikis with VisualEditor) — edit algebra or equations on your pages
• Typography Refresh — make text more readable (coming Thursday)

Reminder: Wikidata coming on January 14th

(This is a message to all Wikisource editions. Sorry for writing in English. I hope someone can translate this for me on the non-English editions.)

Hi!

I am Wikidata's product manager. If you are unfamilar with Wikidata please have a look at d:Q3107329 for example.

As you might already have heard Wikisource will be the fourth project supported by Wikidata after Wikipedia, Wikivoyage and Commons. We are currently planning this for January 14th. From this point on you will be able to handle the links between projects in Wikidata. This means you will only have to maintain them once instead of having them duplicated in every article. However fear not: the local interwiki links will still continue to work and they will overwrite what comes from Wikidata.

This is the first step of Wikidata supporting Wikisource. In a second step we will enable access to the actual data on Wikidata like biographical data about authors. I do not have a date for that yet however.

The planning is happening at d:Wikidata:Wikisource. We are still looking for some more ambassadors who can help during the process and make sure everything goes smoothly for you. Please add your name to the list at d:Wikidata:Wikisource if you're willing to do this.

Wikidata is here!

Hey everyone :)

As previously announced we have just enabled interwiki links via Wikidata for Wikisource. This means from now on you no longer have to maintain the links in the Wikitext but can maintain them together with the links for Wikipedia, Commons and Wikivoyage on Wikidata. You will still be able to keep them locally though if you want to. Local interwiki links will overwrite the ones from Wikidata. You do not yet have access to the other data on Wikidata like the date of birth of an author. That will come in a future deployment. I will let you know when I have a date for it.

If you have any questions d:Wikidata:Wikisource is a good first step. It also has a list of people familiar with both Wikisource and Wikidata who are able to help you out. That is also a good place for any issues or bugs you encounter.

I'm really excited to welcome you all to Wikidata! I hope it will become a great help for Wikisource.

Request for comment on Commons: Should Wikimedia support MP4 video?

I apologize for this message being only in English. Please translate it if needed to help your community.

The Wikimedia Foundation's multimedia team seeks community guidance on a proposal to support the MP4 video format. This digital video standard is used widely around the world to record, edit and watch videos on mobile phones, desktop computers and home video devices. It is also known as H.264/MPEG-4 or AVC.

Supporting the MP4 format would make it much easier for our users to view and contribute video on Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects -- and video files could be offered in dual formats on our sites, so we could continue to support current open formats (WebM and Ogg Theora).

However, MP4 is a patent-encumbered format, and using a proprietary format would be a departure from our current practice of only supporting open formats on our sites -- even though the licenses appear to have acceptable legal terms, with only a small fee required.

We would appreciate your guidance on whether or not to support MP4. Our Request for Comments presents views both in favor and against MP4 support, based on opinions we’ve heard in our discussions with community and team members.

Access to data in Wikidata

Hey :)

(Sorry for writing in English. I hope someone can translate this for me where necessary.)

Not long ago we enabled language links via Wikidata for Wikisource. This seems to have gone rather smoothly. Thanks to everyone who helped! But as you know this was only the start. What is actually more interesting is access to the data in Wikidata like the date of birth of an author or the year a book was published. We have planned this for February 25th (unless any issues arise). You will then be able to use the data in your articles. I hope this will open up a lot of new opportunities for you.

Universal Language Selector will be enabled by default again on this wiki by 21 February 2014

On January 21 2014 the MediaWiki extension Universal Language Selector (ULS) was disabled on this wiki. A new preference was added for logged-in users to turn on ULS. This was done to prevent slow loading of pages due to ULS webfonts, a behaviour that had been observed by the Wikimedia Technical Operations team on some wikis.

We are now ready to enable ULS again. The temporary preference to enable ULS will be removed. A new checkbox has been added to the Language Panel to enable/disable font delivery. This will be unchecked by default for this wiki, but can be selected at any time by the users to enable webfonts. This is an interim solution while we improve the feature of webfonts delivery.

You can now access the data on Wikidata

Hey folks,

We have just enabled data access to Wikidata for Wikisource (except old-wikisource). This means you can now access data like the date of birth of an author or the ISBN of a book. You can do this in two ways. The first one is a parser function. You can use it like {{#property:capital}} or {{#property:P36}}. The second one is Lua. The documentation for that is at mw:Extension:WikibaseClient/Lua

If you have any questions you will find help at d:Wikidata:Wikisource and its talk page.

I hope you'll use this to do some kick-ass things on Wikisource ;-)

Call for project ideas: funding is available for community experiments

Do you have an idea for a project that could improve your community? Individual Engagement Grants from the Wikimedia Foundation help support individuals and small teams to organize experiments for 6 months. You can get funding to try out your idea for online community organizing, outreach, tool-building, or research to help make Wikizvor better. In March, we’re looking for new project proposals.

Examples of past Individual Engagement Grant projects:

• Organizing social media for Chinese Wikipedia ($350 for materials)
• Improving gadgets for Visual Editor ($4500 for developers)
• Coordinating access to reliable sources for Wikipedians ($7500 for project management, consultants and materials)
• Building community and strategy for Wikisource (€10000 for organizing and travel)

Proposals are due by 31 March 2014. There are a number of ways to get involved!

A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc) was recently adopted by global community consensus (your community received a notice about the discussion). According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on smaller wikis. To the best of our knowledge, your wiki does not have a formal process for removing "advanced rights" from inactive accounts. This means that the stewards will take care of this according to the new admin activity review here.

We have determined that the following users meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for more than 2 years):

1. CmiBot (administrator)
2. E.coli (administrator)
3. Elephantus (administrator)
4. Zmaj (administrator)

These users will receive a notification soon, asking them to start a community discussion if they want to retain some or all of their rights. If the users do not respond, then their advanced rights will be removed by the stewards.

However, if you as a community would like to create your own activity review process superseding the global one, want to make another decision about these inactive rights holders, or already have a policy that we missed, then please notify the stewards on Meta-Wiki so that we know not to proceed with the rights review on your wiki. Wikidata: Access to data from arbitrary items is coming

When using data from Wikidata on Wikipedia and other sister projects, there is currently a limitation in place that hinders some use cases: data can only be accessed from the corresponding item. So, for example, the Wikipedia article about Berlin can only get data from the Wikidata item about Berlin but not from the item about Germany. This had technical reasons. We are now removing this limitation. It is already done for French Wikisource and Dutch Wikipedia. Your project is one of the next ones:

• 18. May: Farsi Wikipedia, English Wikivoyage, Hebrew Wikipedia
• 1. June: Italian Wikipedia, all remaining Wikisource

We hope to have it rolled out nearly everywhere by the end of June 2015.

We invite you to play around with this new feature if you are one of the people who have been waiting for this for a long time. If you have technical issues/questions with this you can come to d:Wikidata:Contact the development team.

A note of caution: Please be careful with how many items you use for a single page. If it is too many pages, loading might get slow. We will have to see how the feature behaves in production to see where we need to tweak and how.

Hi. I can see that this project has old JavaScript that needs to be updated. I would happily make the required updates myself, but I would have to – at least temporarily – become an admin here to do that (because the relevant pages are in the MediaWiki namespace). I have already made these updates on a number of other projects, so it would be very easy for me to do this. If no one does anything, some JavaScript-related tools will break later this year. Improved search in deleted pages archive

During Wikimedia Hackathon 2016, the Discovery team worked on one of the items on the 2015 community wishlist, namely enabling searching the archive of deleted pages. This feature is now ready for production deployment, and will be enabled on all wikis, except Wikidata.

Right now, the feature is behind a feature flag - to use it on your wiki, please go to the Special:Undelete page, and add &fuzzy=1 to the URL, like this: https://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AUndelete&fuzzy=1. Then search for the pages you're interested in. There should be more results than before, due to using ElasticSearch indexing (via the CirrusSearch extension).

We plan to enable this improved search by default on all wikis soon (around August 1, 2017). If you have any objections to this - please raise them with the Discovery team via email or on this announcement's discussion page. Like most Mediawiki configuration parameters, the functionality can be configured per wiki. Once the improved search becomes the default, you can still access the old mode using &fuzzy=0 in the URL, like this: https://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AUndelete&fuzzy=0

Please note that since Special:Undelete is an admin-only feature, this search capability is also only accessible to wiki admins.
