ASSOCIATION FOR LOCAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES MEA (Legaly known as Udruženje za lokalne razvojne inicijative MEA)

MEA is a non-profit,non-political organization, which has been founded by the citizens of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Constitution and Law of Bosnia. MEA is a legal entity, ID VAT TAX NUMBER: 4201235910004 and as such has been recorsuch in the Registry Ministry of Justice and Administration of Canton Sarajevo number of document 03-05-05-2260/07 ordinal number 1015/Book II.

MEA is not evidenced as VAT (tax) payer and as such is exempt from taxes. Not producing goods which enter the competition of themarket (basic living ingredients) and belongs to the organization and associations which provide charitable services for the benefit of civil society.

Taking concerns about the quality of living standards of children and young people. Financed by entirely through voluntary contributions of governments and foundations, companies and citizens. Many people from public life are helping operation of MEA as well as students.

Goals of Association[uredi | uredi kôd]

The main goals and tasks> MEA <are:

  1. Creation, participation and implementation of activities that contribute to the development of a democratic society with economically independent and free citizens;
  2. Supporting local initiatives that can provide increasing income of citizens of BiH through employment, start their own businesses, creating conditions for private sector development and other initiatives that would contribute to the realization of new jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  3. Initiatives aimed at strengthening institutions, mechanisms and capacities for local and regional economic development through providing information, counseling, education and other social activities at the local, regional and national levels;
  4. Help citizens to become actively involved in the processes that accompany the economic and political transition in order to create an efficient market economy and stable democracy;
  5. Assistance to all vulnerable groups that are marginalized, the process of transition and faced with a lack of basic income necessary to meet the minimum necessities of life;
  6. Activities aimed at reducing poverty and improving the economic standard of living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.


To achieve its goals the Association performs the following tasks:

  1. Field work that directly contributes to achieving the mission and programmatic goals of the Association, through advisory services, information services, providing technical support, organizing events (professional meetings, seminars, training, consulting, organizing promotional activities, symposia, colloquia) and through the work of staff projects that aim to achieve the mission and aims of the organization;
  2. Implementation advisory services for individuals, associations, private sector, civil society organizations and the public sector with the aim to improve living standards and quality of life of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  3. It provides financial and non financial assistance for self employment and development of micro, small and medium enterprises in order to boost employment, generate new revenue and economic development of local communities;
  4. Provides assistance to other non-profit and non governmental organizations that carry out activities to reduce poverty, improve the position of marginalized groups in society, human rights, democracy and civil society;
  5. Supports the development of public awareness about the importance of an open society, the role of civil society to economic and social life of citizens by collecting, analyzing and disseminating information to encourage the development of economy, open society and a stable democracy;
  6. Establishing cooperation with associations and individuals who are interested in the work program which deals with the Association;
  7. Publishes periodic reports, analysis, publications, manuals, magazines and books that can contribute to poverty reduction, human rights and a stable democracy;
  8. Radio programs and projects in order to achieve the program objectives of the Association as defined by statute and the Strategic Plan of the organization;
  9. Implement their own projects or identical to another are qualified and competent institutions, organizations or individuals;
  10. Encourages and participates in the professional training of its members;
  11. Establish their own non-profit and for-profit organizations for the realization of their projects and program goals in accordance with the Act.
  12. Represent the association.
