Aganope je biljni rod iz tropske Afrike i Azije, čini dio potporodice Papilionoideae, porodica mahunarki. Postoji desetak vrsta, lijana, penjačica i manjeg drveća koje rastu po tropskim šumama, šumama Mangrova i šipražju.[1]
Listopadno drveće s crvenim smolastim sokom. Neparno perasti listovi. Cvjetovi u metlicama. Plod spljošten, ne puca, s krilcima.[2]
