Orhideje (Kaćunovke, lat. Orchidaceae) Orhideje su porodica od gotovo 1 000 rodova i više od 25 000 vrsta biljaka s lijepim cvjetovima rasprostranjenih diljem svijeta, osobito u vlažnim tropima. Orchidaceae je član reda Asparagales, reda monokotilnih cvjetnica koji također uključuje porodice šparoga i perunika. Riječ orhideja potječe od grčke riječi (orchis) za testis zbog oblika gomolja korijena kod nekih vrsta roda Orchis. Ove nedrvenaste višegodišnje biljke općenito su kopnene ili epifitske biljke (tj. rastu na drugim biljkama, a ne ukorijenjene u tlu). One koje su pričvršćene za druge biljke često su nalik na lozu i imaju spužvasti korijen koji se naziva velamen koji upija vodu iz okolnog zraka. Većina vrsta proizvodi vlastitu hranu, ali neke žive na mrtvom organskom materijalu (saprotrofni) ili im u dobivanju hrane pomaže gljiva koja živi u njihovom korijenju.
