WikiProject Language samples: Help needed![uredi]
Sorry for writing English – I only speak English and German. I search for someone with Croatian as their mother language, willing to help me with my project WikiProject Language samples:
The Wikipedia exists in many languages, in which we have articles about many languages. We already have a lot of high quality Wikipedia-articles about languages in which you can find information about the number of speakers, the vocabulary, stem and grammar of the language. But often one very natural question about a language is still left unanswered: "How does this language sound?". This is what I want to change with this project – I collect audio recordings of the same text (first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) in as many languages as possible. Therefore I hope for someone of you could make a recording of the following text and upload the audio-file to Wikimedia Commons:
Sva ljudska bića rađaju se slobodna i jednaka u dostojanstvu i pravima. Ona su obdarena razumom i sviješću i trebaju jedna prema drugima postupati u duhu bratstva."
You find some tips for recording on the project page. Also you could include the recordings already existing (~60!) to the articles of your Wikipedia or help me organize more language recordings. Thank you! -- MichaelSchoenitzer (razgovor) 14:29, 6. kolovoza 2017. (CEST)
Bok! I'm sorry that I'm not writing in Croatian. Please help translate to your language!
At the beginning of this year, we initiated a broad discussion to form a strategic direction that will unite and inspire people across the entire movement. This direction will be the foundation on which we will build clear plans and set priorities. More than 80 communities and groups have discussed and gave feedback on-wiki, in person, virtually, and through private surveys[strategy 1][strategy 2]. We researched readers and consulted more than 150 experts[strategy 3]. We looked at future trends that will affect our mission, and gathered feedback from partners and donors.
In July, a group of community volunteers and representatives from the strategy team took on a task of synthesizing this feedback into an early version of the strategic direction that the broader movement can review and discuss.

In 2017, we initiated a broad discussion to form a strategic direction that will unite and inspire Wikimedians. This direction will be the foundation on which we will build clear plans and set priorities. More than 80 communities and groups discussed and gave feedback[strategy 1][strategy 2][strategy 3]. We researched readers and consulted more than 150 experts[strategy 4]. We looked at future trends that will affect our mission, and gathered feedback from partners and donors.

- What's the big deal about all that? Simple strategy is: write the articles. Cover the topics You did not cover before. Kubura (razgovor) 18:53, 11. rujna 2017. (CEST)
- Kubura: no, that's not a strategy, it's an idea. An organizational strategy is a distinctive, specific term. What's more, my message is about a strategy for entire Wikimedia, including affiliates, and not only for individual contributors of Wikipedia. SGrabarczuk (WMF) (razgovor) 23:22, 12. rujna 2017. There is currently a RfC open on Meta regarding "requiring those involved with paid editing on Wikipedia to link on their user page to all other active accounts through which they advertise paid Wikipedia editing business."
Note this is to apply to Wikipedia and not necessarily other sister projects, this is only to apply to websites where people are specifically advertising that they will edit Wikipedia for pay and not any other personal, professional, or social media accounts a person may have.

Wikimedia Movement Strategy phase 2, and a goodbye[uredi]
As phase one of the Wikimedia movement strategy process nears its close with the strategic direction being finalized, my contractor role as a coordinator is ending too. I am returning to my normal role as a volunteer (Tar Lócesilion) and wanted to thank you all for your participation in the process.
The strategic direction should be finalized on Meta late this weekend. The planning and designing of phase 2 of the strategy process will start in November. The next phase will again offer many opportunities to participate and discuss the future of our movement, and will focus on roles, resources, and responsibilities.

Migration vocabulary translations[uredi]
[Sorry for the English]
On Wikidata there is currently a campaign to translate the "label", "description" and label of the "subclass" statement for 61 terms relating to Migration. This is part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, and Europeana is running a campaign focused on personal stories of migration. Part of that project is to create a useful and multilingual vocabulary of migration-related terms that GLAMs can use in their metadata.
At the time that I write this message Croatian is one of the European Union official languages with the lowest % translation of these 61 terms in Wikidata - from practical things like "visa" and "map" to concepts like "asylum seeker" and "colonisation".
It would be really helpful if someone from the SK community could help improve this statistic :-) Please visit Wikidata:Europeana migration vocabulary to participate. Thank you. Wittylama (pogovor) 17:33, 14. marec 2018 (CET)
